Post subject:  Refinish Getaway hulls?

I did some searching on removing scratches from the Wave/Getaway hulls on the forum. It seems some recommend heat, followed by 600 grit wet sandpaper and then a buffer?
When the boat was shrink wrapped last winter, it looks like they attempted to clean the hulls with something abrasive. The nice shine is dull and there are quite a few surface scratches.
I want to do everything I can to bring them back to new condition. (the boat is only 3 years old)

I am fairly good with a random orbital buffer and can detail auto paint so the buffing part should not be too complicated if I can get some solid recommendations on what product and pad to use for the final buff. And, suggestions on the sanding process.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

Could heating the cross linked polyethelene make it brittle? I've buffed out a black spot created from the grommet on my tarp rubbing o the hull, this did not require sanding, hand buffing.
