My poor Getaway is sitting in the driveway...de masted with a trap over it for the winter.....geez I miss it.... |

You should come down here. Hobies for rent on the beach, including Getaways. Weather is about 83 deg. today, with a good ENE wind. |

mm well i got to school in Savannah, GA its about 60 degrees there...that beats the 20-40 degrees here in Rhode Island. |

Humm, its been -28 for several days, i have been trying to figure out how to put blades under the hulls but steering will be a problem?? Sigh, sailing season doesn't start here till the long weekend in May  Maybe find a seat sale to Florida for a weekend lol. Untill then I'll just look at my pictures and be sad.

I was thinking of posting some photos, but it would be cruel and you would hate me. However, its been cloudy and raining since the weekend. its about 82 deg. but its raining...oh well. |

What does a trip like that cost? Do you need any special licence or qualification to rent the boat other than knowing how to sail? |

A 39' boat is about CAD 3000 per week from www.sunsail.com. On top of that you have just provisioning and some minimal customs fees. The required qualifications depend from charterer to charterer - most of them will say that if you have experience skippering this kind of boats you don't need a formal qualification (and probably they will test you before letting you go). Otherwise, you can take the ASA 101,103 and 104 courses (or the equivalent Canadian ones) to get the official "bareboater" badge. These 3 courses are usually taught in 2 weeks (and there's plenty of schools that offer them right in the Caribbean). If you feel comfortable, you can take all those courses + ASA 114 (the catamaran one) in just one week. |

Ya Hoo!! only 14 more sleeps before I can go sail for the first time in 07, its kind of like waiting for your first date lol. After 50 yrs of sailing you would think it would get kind of boring (not)

are there any getaways with wings for rent on the beach anywhere between New Smyrna and Ormond beach. I would like to buy a getaway but I live near Orlando and I don't like the idea of trailering my boat to the beach every time I want to sail. Also it is a hussle to rig it single-handed. For these reasons I would like to rent, typically a block of 4 hours. |

I know it is middle of the summer but I had a thought last weekend about storing my Getaway for winter. Do I have to remove trampolines for winter if the boat is kept outside? Is it possible to do without removing crossbars ? Thank you for your suggestions. |

I planned to use a tarp and bungie cords and leave it on the trailer covered with it and well wrapped. |
