Anyone fly a pennant or flag? Wondering how you attach to the boat. I plan to fly a pennant this year from a PCV tube mounted into the hole in the mast bob. Just need to find a way to secure it without drilling any holes or making it permanent. |

I'd like to hear people's ideas on hanging a burgee too from the boat. I graduated college and live in my rival university's town for work. Would like to represent my university some and get some funny looks! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Don't have any pictures, but I'll fly flags from my mainsail luff. I've flown one or two 12" x 18" flags. For two I run about a 4" line from the bottom grommet of the upper flag to the top grommet of the lower flag. Two more short lines connect the remaining grommets on the flags to adjacent batten line grommets on the sail. You can tie it directly, or I found some really thin carabiners that work well. I use the batten pockets above and below the flying H. Sometimes the flags get a little tangled, so adding a swivel or two in there might help. This winter I've designed and made a custom flag for my boat. It's 2' x 3'. My brother and I have gotten wet suits, so I'm hoping to fly it for the first time Sunday. -Rowdy |

The flag has grommets in it and I just run a cable tie (zip tie) through each grommet and around the shroud. I try to remember to clip off the excess for a tidier look. It flies really beautifully on port tack when it's getting blasted by the air flowing through the jib slot. Fast, easy, and temporary. Just remember to take it off after sailing to respect the flag and keep it in good condition. See it in action here: |

I have flown both Flags and pennants. Its best to attach to the luff of the main usng the batten grommets and be sure to not have a pennant that is longer than your sail or it will get tangled in the shrouds or stays |

I put our club pennant on my starboard shroud, using a prussic hitch above and below the pennant grommets. It did beat the sail when I was on a port tack, so I will try mounting it lower. I'm considering mounting it using a flagstaff of pvc or something through the hole in the Bob. |
