I bought a 2001 Getaway last year and found it heavier than expected but figured that was the way it was. Beach wheels would squash and distort. There are a couple of other Getaways (a little newer) at the catamaran club I belong to and this year we gave each of them a lift and found that they were not as heavy as my boat. Is there any reason my boat should be so heavy? Any insights would be welcome. |

Take the coolers off completely and peek inside with a flashlight. Hopefully it isn't drugs or other contraband!! |

I've wondered if there are foam blocks inside the Getaway hulls. This is the case with the fiberglass boats. If water is left in the hulls for a long period of time it will absorb into the foam. |

Nope, there shouldn't be any foam in the hulls. |

An obvious possibility is that there is water in the hulls, remove the rear plugs and see if some comes out. |
