I bought a 2001 Getaway last year and found it heavier than expected but figured that was the way it was. Beach wheels would squash and distort. There are a couple of other Getaways (a little newer) at the catamaran club I belong to and this year we gave each of them a lift and found that they were not as heavy as my boat. Is there any reason my boat should be so heavy? Any insights would be welcome.

Take the coolers off completely and peek inside with a flashlight. Hopefully it isn't drugs or other contraband!!

I've wondered if there are foam blocks inside the Getaway hulls. This is the case with the fiberglass boats. If water is left in the hulls for a long period of time it will absorb into the foam.

Nope, there shouldn't be any foam in the hulls.

An obvious possibility is that there is water in the hulls, remove the rear plugs and see if some comes out.
