Post subject:  how to retro fit a halyard for the jib

I have a 2011 getaway. I have never liked the fixed jib. Has anyone retro fitted a jib halyard using the stock furler? If so, I would appreciate a diagram or photos. Thanks. Twells

I didn't retrofit a halyard, what I did was "unfix" the shackle at the tack to the forestay. IN its place I put in a line down to another shackle on the chainplate. Sortof a jib cunningham so I can adjust luff tension for that day's wind. You could add a "zipper" halyard with a line going through the forestay pocket, up to a block on the forestay eye and back down to the jib head--there's plenty of room in that pocket for another small diameter line. You'd have to figure out a method for cleating the halyard on the chainplate or else you would have a hard time furling.
