Post subject:  Cracked comp tip

Hi, noticed with much alarm that my comp tip has cracked after a day out in approx 10-12knots winds.
Getaway is 2007 model. The join always seemed a bit suspect.
Any ideas on how to fix appreciated. Am dreading the approx $1000 cost of a new tip.

Surface cracks? If so, it's just cosmetic. Start digging to see the extent of the damage. If just superficial, break out the epoxy and repair....then some black paint.

No, not surface cracks, big chips... Photos show issue of chipping due to presssing against aluminium spar.
As the composite is not all that thick, i suspect the chips are right through and therefore compromising strength.

Even chips can be superficial. What's important is the core.

I would use thickened G/flex epoxy from West System for this repair.

Marine Tex worked great for me. Found it on amazon.
