Post subject:  Getaway Damage From Hurricane Harvey

I keep my Getaway in an enclosed storage building in Rockport, Texas. Unfortunately, the only thing left of my storage unit after Hurricane Harvey was the concrete foundation. I was able to find and recover my boat this weekend and now I need to make some repairs and have some questions:

1. Does Hobie have any Hurricane Harvey relief aid available? :-)

2. Can I buy just one wing seat? When I look up the part #37001000 it shows the pair. Is there a different part # to get just one?

3. My spinnaker got a few holes and rips in it? Can it be repaired? (fortunately it didn't fully deploy or who knows where my boat would have ended up)

4. My jib is shredded. It looks like a new hobie one is around $350. Can I get one to match the color of my 2002 main sail? Is there a good (less expensive) after market alternative?

5. Can I order individual parts from the spinnaker kit?

Thanks,
David

sorry for your loss.

Spinnakers can be repaired relatively cheaply.
Jibs can be purchased after market and can closely match the original colors. Try slosailandcanvas.com
You can make your own missing wing seat by buying the extruded aluminum plank-try metals online . com

Wow, your mast survived! Whew!
There's a rental place in Miami that makes their own sails, and sells off the factory sails, or will sell you one of their making. Here's the link:

West Coast has wing parts, but evidently not the plank. https://www.westcoastsailing.net/defaul ... wings.html

Sorry about your boat. I can't believe it held together that good actually. I'm up the coast north of you in Beaumont/Pt Arthur. I'm sure you've seen the news. #Texastrong!

Hey David;

Sorry for the hit. Both my Hobie 16 and Hobie Getaway made it thru hurricane Irma. I am trying to put things back together right now. My main tramp in the Getaway had a small tear but gonna have to replace that now. Got my new front tramp from Sunrise Yacht Products on Friday right before the hurricane came in. https://www.multihullnets.com/

Give me your address and full name (PM me) and I will be happy to send you $100 as a start to get you up and running!

Here is how I tied up my cats for the hurricane. We were expecting 8 foot storm surge that never happened. Thank goodness as that would have been 4 feet into my condo.

Hi Matthew - I really appreciate the offer of financial help. Fortunately, I am blessed with a good job and can afford the repairs necessary. I know there are many people in Texas and Florida that do need help and would greatly appreciate your generosity!

We were fortunate in Rockport also as far as the storm surge went. It wasn't near as bad as they predicted.

I'm well on my way to getting my boat repaired. I've found a used wing seat which is great because that's the most expensive thing that I needed to replace. Hopefully I'll have everything back together in a few weeks.

Thanks for everyone's help!

David
