Do you have any recommendations for the best way to remove the orange decals from the hulls?

Thanks,
David

David: I have a 2013, so my decals weren't orange, but the front and rear ones came off really easy with a heat gun and a plastic scraper. The center one, that says "Hobie" is not removable, as far as I can tell. It seems to be molded into the hull.

Thanks Ken. I was able to remove them without trouble. I did not try to remove the "Hobie" or "Getaway" stickers. I am very happy with the way it turned out with previous generation sails and no orange hull decals. I am also pleased with the performance relative to my 2002 Getaway. I'm not sure if its the new sails, hull design change, or a combination, but the new boat is definitely faster.

Love the look with the old school sails and the orange and yellow stickers removed. I just got a 2015 T2 and the old school curl stickers had to come off. I'm not fond of the hobie diamond having to be cut for the pontoon ridge. That might have to go too. I haven't found a custom design that would work, but I'm still looking.

Hi dksailor,
I like the whole color scheme here, the grey wings, grey tramp, black decals, and somewhat lower key sail colors.
How did you achieve this marvel?

It's a 2019 boat - I just peeled off the orange and yellow hull decals and swapped out the sails. My dealer charged me $100 per sail to swap the 2019 sails for the previous color scheme. I kept my last getaway for 16 years and I hope to keep this one for quite a while too, so it was worth it to me to pay the extra money to get colors I like. After sailing it all summer, I am still very happy with the boat.

So are the grey color now standard for the wings and main tramp? I like those much better than my blue ones (the replacements will probably be grey...)
Anyway, looking very good. Enjoy.

Yes, that is what came standard on my boat.

Had I kept my Getaway...eventually I would have removed the decals, replaced the sails with white or carbon black, removed the mast bob (I don't capsize). Then, I would have had the appearance of a boat and not a toy. Color belongs in your spinnaker, nowhere else IMO. I understand free advertising with every purchase...but at least we get the opportunity to strip them off if it annoys us.

Agreed
Mast Bob is awful!
As are the current colours and decals
As is the fibre tipped mast designed for overhead safety

Apart from that boat seems terrific

I honestly think the getaway was the most fun for the least dollars I've ever spent on a boat (and I've had a lot of boats).
