The mast stud needs to be replaced. I removed the lower nut and loosened the upper nut but the mast stud is still tight. How do I get the the old stud out so I can install a new one? The boat is over 10 years old.
Thanks

You can almost guarantee that it's bent inside the cross spar as well as what you can see above it. Probably going to have to extricate it by force. Get a large set of channel lock or vice grip pliers to hold the top of the mast stud. Then use a wrench to turn the top nut clockwise, pushing the stud out.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was able to get it out this morning. The root cause was galvanic corrosion caused by the dissimilar metals, SS and aluminum at the top and bottom holes on the crossbar. Once the corrosion bond was broken, the stud slid right out.
