Post subject:  Insurance for my new Getaway

I just took delivery of a new Getaway here in Michigan. I am having trouble getting it insured. Progressive Insurance will only insure 16' sailboats with "valid" hull materials of a) aluminum or b) fiberglass.

Has anyone had a problem getting their Getaway with Roto-Molded Polyethylene hulls insured?

Any suggestions about who to call?

Check with the company that carries your home insurance, a lot of home policies will cover the boat as part of your home insurance

Hello,

I live in southeastern Michigan and purchased a Hobie Wave last year.
I insured my boat through AAA and had no problem at all. It is really inexpensive also.

Home owners insurance some times only covers liability. AAA and Farmers have both covered Poly boats for me.

I have mine insured through State Farm. Insurance is more than I pay on my 6 cylinder power boat

I just purchased insurance through Progressive for a 06 Getaway and it was like $107 a year for $7,500 with $500 deductible on the internet.
