Any thoughts on the Getaway for young kids? Too scary? Too open a boat? The target ages here are 7 and 6. |

Although my kids are a little older 14, 12, and 10 when we got our Getaway and they are all very good swimmers and we always wear life vests. That said I would have no real concerns with younger kids during reasonable conditions. The boat is very stable and the extra ballast makes it more so. It is now 3 years later and while my oldest two would like to take the boat out themselves and surely could, I am selfish and darn it if I am going to drive it to the beach I'll be damned if there going to leave me ashore! |

I sailed with my wife and my 3 boys (2, 4 and 10) or just me with the 2 older boys (4 and 10) and they loved it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yb4XIOVQuc Of course, they should wear lifejackets and the conditions should be reasonable. |
