Does it work... what is the performance like? With all that volume in the Getaway hulls I'm sure I more powerful rig would turn the boat into a wonderful performance cat. Any thoughts or experience on this out there? |

Really no views or experience on this? I know there are many Getaways with H16 masts as the GRP mast tip has failed on the original. But how about putting the full H16 rig on a Getaway? It's been well documented that the H16 is overpowered due to its low volume hulls, but the sail plan should work well on the high volume, longer Getaway hulls. Opinions welcome! |

It probably could be made to work. I personally would hate to lose the boomless aspect of the Getaway. The mast placement fore/aft is not identical and shrouds are similarly not identically placed so you would have to be careful of loads and mast rake. The bigger mainsail would likely cause you to need less mast rake which will make the boat more tippy and you won't point as well. It probably won't change the overall performance of the boat by a noticeable amount except on a reach. |

Looks great except your trim is screwed up (leaches of the two sails should look similar--but that could be just when the snapshot was snapped on the first photo). I like the getaway sails with the taller mast although curious as to the decision to put the anti capsize ball on top again. |
