I have an older Getaway circa 2002-2004??? and the rear trampoline finally gave out on me today. Question is have there been any changes to the tramps over the years? Or can I just go ahead and order a new Hobie Trampoline? While I’m asking, are there differences for the forward trampoline over the years? Or are they all the same as well? Thank you! |

Thanks, I received my new turquoise tramp this week. Do you recommend replacing the lacing line? Or can I just go ahead and use the original lines from the old tramp. Would shock cord be a good alternative? Thinking it may take some of the stress off the tramp itself? I thinK my original tramp gave out due to UV rather than anything else. |

Don't use shock cord. That tramp is actually a structural part of the boat and helps keep it together. Any polyester line 1/4" diameter (or bigger) will work--use the old line if it is still in decent shape. Yes, UV is the tramp killer. You could extend the tramp life if it is always in the sun by painting the tramp every couple years. Sunrise sells paint for that purpose but I'm sure there are others that will do as well. Just don't use something that'd be slippery. |

I called several dealers looking for a new OEM rear tramp. I couldn’t find anyone who had it in stock and all thought it may take several weeks to get it from Hobie due to backlog. Since my sailing season is so short here in the Northeast I wanted it quickly so when I found one on eBay I snapped it up. The tramp was pretty much perfect and definitely oem however for some reason it is missing the one grommet on the starboard side for the shock cord that holds the trap wire from swinging around. The grommet on the port side is there and in the perfect spot. Is that a change or did I get a dud? Can I put a grommet in after the fact? Obviously I’m concerned about putting a hole in my new tramp. Is there another way that people secure the trap wires when not in use? |
