Post subject:  COMPTIP mast out in the tropical sun. UV damage?

Has anyone experienced UV damage to the fiberglass Comptip when left out in the sun.
Are there any suggestions how to avoid exposure to the sun without having to drop the mast each time.
Or
Is it a non-problem?!

I think it is a non problem. Most boats are fiberglass and don't fall apart when left out in the sun. If the outside covering (gelcoat on boats, dunno what hobie uses on the comptip) gets damaged to expose the actual fiberglass, a little paint is enough to re protect it.

You can spray it with 303 every time you bring it down, or tip it on it's side once in a while. That provides good UV protection.
You could also make a sleeve (like the jib snorkel), attaching it to the main halyard and pull it up as you pull up the jib snorkel.
