Thank you for your response and the link. I'm looking for any gennaker info. I know there is info on the spinaker setup. I have seen a few YouTube videos with roller furling gennaker setups. Just want to be sure its going to not have any issues before I make the purchase. Thanks again for your help. |

You might be the only one who wants to get one. Only difference between Asymspin and gennaker is the amount of camber. Gennaker is flatter and more useful in heading higher off the wind than an asymspin. Getaway's weakness is not in reaching so much as in going deep so an asymspin make more sense given the boat's sailplan. You wouldn't want a roller furler in any event since snuffers are more useful and reliable. Now, that being said, if your sailing area is typically under 8 kts of wind and consistently from 90 degrees true, you might have more use in a gennaker than an asymspin. I suspect the installation of the asymspin and gennaker would be pretty similar. |

Thanks Mr. Thom I oo alot of 90 deg. sailinge on Lake Mead. Seems I would get more out of the gen. Noticed your F boat ownership. I just sold my F27 3 weeks ago after having the privilege of owning hull number 445 for 20 years. Enjoy this video Iocated on the topic. Thanks my friend for your thoughts and information. https://youtu.be/WBpB1o4mMg8 https://youtu.be/6mevrgK9Hnw |

Fboats are a lot of fun and since I sail single handed most of the time, trimarans are a bit less likely to cause capsize. I really enjoyed my Getaway, though and it provided the most fun for the money of any boat I've ever owned. I fitted my getaway with 3 different off wind sails and never installed a sprit. I flew them off the front bar. I put a symmetric spin on, then a ginormous (masthead) gennaker and then finally fitted an asymspin. The front bar to the getaway is pretty substantial. Here's the windseeker in play... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIW0orcbJ4Q |
