Thank you Matt, I just ordered one. No blue color available anymore. I do not see any instructions how to replace an old one/install a new one. I watched the videos 4 parts and there is no info how to do it. I also read instructions on line... nothing there either. https://static.hobiecat.com/digital_assets/Getaway_Assembly_Manual_2019.pdf I there a post or some information about it somewhere? I can try to copy what I will see when I take my mast down but it would be a good idea to review it before. Please help Thank you |

Mast down. Forestay loose from the furler. Untie / unshackle the top and bottom of the jib... slide the old off the forestay and slide the new on. Re-tie / shackle. |

Do I have to re-tie the top firs and then the bottom or vice versa? the tie is 16 years old- what kind of tie is it and what is the thickness if I have to buy it from West Point Marina. Sorry I just got hit by the storm and the whole area is w/o power and delivery is compromised. I may have to go to 3rd party. Thank you for your help. |

Any 1/4" polyester line will do fine. Personally, I used 1/8" dyneema. You really should replace the 16 year old line. West marine sells it--https://www.westmarine.com/buy/samson-rope--amsteel-dyneema-as-78-single-braid-sold-by-the-foot--P014895700?recordNum=1 Hope the recovery from the storm is quick and painless for you. |

Thank you guys for your help. I forgot about those guys in Miami... I bought rear trampoline from them several years ago. Great people. I bought an orange jib sail, paid $50 more.... I think it was the last one available in US that day. it will match my life jacket color. I called majority of Hobie dealers in the country, no one has it. Predicted delivery 4-6 weeks. Last question: How long should be that line? I don't know how many feet to buy for upper and lower tie. Thanks again. |

You probably don't need more than 3 feet total. Hobie gives you longer lines so you end up wrapping them a couple times before tying off. You probably can just shackle the tack to the same shackle that the forestay attaches on the adjuster. The new luff on the new jib will stretch in use, so you'll have to readjust that line a couple times until it stops stretching (probably a couple sails). If you don't normally lower the mast, you could tie it off on top first but instead of shackling use another adjustment line at the bottom which you can shorten as the jib stretches. |

Tension the forestay before setting the luff tension. Easier with the boat rigged. Tie the top step the mast... and then tie the bottom when the rig is tight. Just enough to remove wrinkles. To tight and the jib can tear under load. |
