| Post subject: | How fast is a Getaway in 12 mph wind? |
With 350 pounds of people and gear on a Getaway in a 12 mph wind approximately how fast would you think the boat would be sailing? How fast would a Miracle 20 be going in the same conditions? I'm assuming both the main and the jib are being used. |

I was out yesterday with about that much weight on board. Winds were 12-18 MPH. We hit 15.6 MPH on the GPS while on a close reach. We were clearly on the high end of wind speeds when we broke 15 MPH. With winds about 12 MPH and 350 lbs on board you're probably looking at about 6-10 MPH depending on point of sail. |
