Post subject:  2020 Wings Discontinued?

I hear that the 2017-2020 Getaway moulds are being discontinued. The wings for this model are unique to this model and will not fit on the 2021 model or any models earlier than 2017. Vice versa as well - 2021 model wings will not fit on 2020 model.

Here’s my issue. I’m located in Canada and I have heard from a few different dealers that whether you’re buying a 2019, 2020, or 2021 model Getaway, good luck finding wings for any of these models this year. Something about production shortage or perhaps there’s issues getting them over the border... not sure.

I’m about to buy a 2020 Getaway without wings. Since this mould is being discontinued should I be worried about getting wings for this model? If they discontinued the mould it would lead me to believe they’ve also discontinued the wings for this mould...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I'm still waiting for delivery of my replacement hulls under warranty. Now over 5 months since the warranty claim was accepted by Hobie!!!
I may be given a different shaped hulls now seeing your post.
How are the 2021 molds different? Will I need new beams to fit and new wings too if the previous molds are discontinued?
Whats going on Hobie?
My dealer in here in the Philippines just keeps blaming Covid for the delay.
I've now noticed the port hull has a distinctive bend outwards in the bow... is this a result of mold/injection problems in the manufacture?

You would need to contact Hobie Australia for warranty updates beyond what your dealer can provide. I do know that the Getaway molds had been damaged and out of production since last fall. New molds are not yet here. It will be a while longer to get hulls to Australia and beyond. The hulls will look like the original Getaway. Not yet sure of the fit for crossbars etc. You might have to move the inboard stop plates to match the width of the crossbar sleeves.

Well I emailed that account but no reply (again).
I phoned Hobie Australia and the receptionist tried to put me through to a guy called Chris but he was too busy.
I was promised someone would call me back but nothing as of now. 5 days later.
Sorry to post my woes in a public forum but what can I do short of flying to Sydney!
6 months is too long to be still be waiting for a firm date when I'm going to receive the promised replacement hulls.
Information, a date, anything would be be better than this limbo that I find myself in.
Matt, again thank you for your quick response in all of this, perhaps you could bring this case tho Hobie Australia's attention (they seem to know you) or to Rayomarine, Philippines.
Yours
