Hi, I have recently gotten a Hobie Getaway used, and the one piece of damage I am a bit concerned about is some damage to the comptip. It looks like the fiberglass comptip is slowly seating itself lower into the mast and parts of it are shaving off. Is this normal / will this constitute enough structural damage that I should replace it? Is there a way that I can repair this? Any recommendations welcome. https://imgur.com/a/i1tNquU |

It is likely that there is some movement in and out possible--give it a tug and see. If it moves, then just add some bondo and shove back in, then clean up the excess. It is OK to leave it that way as well just be sure it can't come loose while driving down the road. |

It doesn't seem to move at all, so I think i'm going to sheer away the parts that are splintering off, sand it down a little and apply some marine top coat black paint to uv protect it. Maybe even build it up a bit with some epoxy i have lying around. |
