I’m looking for insight from my fellow Hobie Caters regarding a solar powered DC voltage system for my Getaway. I already have a Torqeedo electric motor that will be recharged from a 45w roll up solar panel that will be permanently mounted. I want to add a 2nd flexible Solar panel to charge a “house” 12 VDC system that will power chart plotter, nav lights, cell phones, laptop etc. What I’m looking for is the battery/unit box that will provide those options. Waterproof would be awesome! Thoughts? |

Do you have the Torqeedo solar charger? If not, you might not be able to charge the Torqeedo battery. It's tricky. I tried using a different panel with a voltage controller, evidently the battery has some control circuitry inside that's pretty fussy. I talked to their tech and still couldn't make it work. Where are you mounting the panels? |
