Post subject: | Hull repairs |
I found a web site that offers a plastic welder. It specifically targets kayaks and references the Hobie kayak and the Hobie Club Wave specifically. It has some pics of the in process repair of a Coleman Canoe. It looks like it could be a good tool for hull repairs. The price is around $50-$60. Has anyone tried this type of product? The manufacturer's site is below. http://www.urethanesupply.com/kcwelder.html Barry Martin |

That will only work on Linear polyethylene... The skin on Getaways and Waves is "cross-linked" and cannot be welded to. |

You don't, The boat is almost indestructible. Check out the post of the crazy abuse they can take. The down side?? Scraps and the like can not be filled like gel coat. In a while you will learn to just look the other way. Performance does not suffer. So ride it like you stole it and enjoy!! |
