I noticed my jib was connected to the forestay and roller furler with an 8 inch piece of line, apparently to keep the length adjustable. I was having trouble with the roller furler taking a while to first wrap this line a number of times before it started taking in the jib. The photo in the getaway owners manual showing this connection is a little difficult to make out, but it looks like a shackle goes right through the forestay and the jib with no adjustable line here. I realize if I make the connection this way, I will have to let out the upper jib adjustable line to compensate. I have attached a photo here of my new method of connecting the jib, is this how other people are doing it or does this look correct in any case? That's how my jib is attached. The adjustable line is at the top, which is a bit of a pain when you take off the jib for any reason, then put it back on. |

Thanks Bob, I’m gonna try it out like this and see if that roller furler does work better. |
