I am thinking of buying a Wave mainsail for our Getaway to have less power on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Any thoughts? Are those zippered sails still available? Where can I find a good used one? |

The zippered Wave main s still offered. The wave main may be a good high wind sail on the Getaway. Anyone actually done this? |

I use a wave mainsail on our Getaways all the time in high winds. I make sure it's adjusted low to the tramp to keep the boat balanced. The halyard just cleats off on the cleat - i.e. don't use the halyard fork at the mast head. |

Of course you don't need a smaller sail. You can set your traveler out and scream. Or pinch the wind with traveler out and main sheet tight and let the big gusts go by. We've sailed in rough seas and winds probably close to 25 and the Getaway hums along. I did redo all my rigging with oversized wires. |
