Post subject: | Broken tiller bar/rudder connection |
Just had our newly purchased Getaway out for the second time. Great boat, but I had the rudder assembly break away from the tiller bar. It seems that the connection is made of 2 bushings. Is this correct? Since I'm new to this boat, I thought someone may have a better perspective. TW |

if the part broke that i think broke (the little plastic pieces that connect the crossbar to the rudders) I believe ive read that these are one of the spare parts you should always carry on board. we've had our getaway a year now...so far we have a small tear in the front of the tramp, a broken shroud last time out..which caused a crack in the comptip....we find out if its serious or not today....the pin that holds the pullies on the jib actually bent on us during a very windy day. however we use our getaway nearly everyday in up to about 25ish kt winds and we're fairly agressive with it |

Marc, thanks for the advice. I found the part # under backyardboats tiller list, and will be ordering them, with a few extra on hand. |

I had a lot of trouble with my new 06 ripping those connectors but my dealer put in undated connectors and I have had no trouble since. |
