How much does a Getaway cover cost and would it hold up in snow?

Hobie part Number 314-16-GTWY Getaway cover $230.00

Now I know nothing about snow other than it's cold, it should hold up just fine.

It will hold up to snow just fine. However, it will not shed snow. It is fitted and does not lend itself to being formed into a workable snow shedding tent. Any appreciable snow load will do a real job of stretching the tramps, particularly the front tramp. It is not that hard to remove and reinstall the tramps and you can forget about it for the winter. In my experience all covers require frequent checking and resetting over the winter. They blow off in a storm and sag badly under snow and ice loading.

My cover (not a Hobie one a regular tarp bought from a hardware store) was torn to pieces last winter (in Toronto). I plan to remove the tramps as they need to be re-tightened anyway and just leave the hulls to the mercy of the winter - they are supposed to be indestructible, right?

Do you remove all the rigging as well when you store in the snowy winters? I'll remove the runnign rigging but what about shrouds, etc...?

I'd pull it all off, its not going to do anything but make it last longer! Its conversations like this that make me appreciate living in the south even more!

For the winter I drop the mast and leave the shrouds wrapped around it. At the club we have a mast rack but I used to keep mine on the trailer.
