I know Hobie doesn't endorse it, but does anyone trap on the wings of their Getway? I am going to and have figured that I will need to shorten the lines 10 to 12 inches from stock. In shortening the lines has anyone had a problem with galvanic reaction if you use aluminum ferrules on the stainless cable, I can't find stainless ferrules anywhere? |

I have no idea about corision. If you just cut off the current swagging and redo it the length comes out fine. Don't wait for windy days and hopes of flying a hull. Put a kid or other small person out on the wire everytime you go out. With a group of 4 regular size adults balance the weight and get somebody out on the wire. This does wonders for getting crew to rearrange their schedules for more avaiability. Friends, children, grandchildren, spouses and significant others get a controlled rush under totally controlled conditions and turn into wind junkies. On slow days I have been able to get somebody out on both sides at once and keep them out through a tack. On windy days a crew on the wire puts you in complete contol in conditions that would otherwise be tempting turnover/pitchpole. Stress to first timers to keep their feet wide apart and move forward and back to adjust to conditions. An extra crew to help with first time launch and recovery is valuable. A quick demonstration by an experienced person goes a long way toward getting the first timer to committ to hanging out. |

Oops, I didn't know this is frowned on, and I had been doing it regularly last season. Don't need to cut anything (mine is an 07), just adjusted the adjustable part of the line at the end where it hooks to the harness and stood way back. It does get crazy, but crazy fun! Most of the time I was single piloting, and yes, flipped once or twice, and pitched once. IT'S A BLAST!!! Anyone know why this is not recommended? Or that it really is not an issue? |
