| Post subject: | Serious Getaway Spinnaker Fun! |
I finally got the Getaway Surf City Spin Kit geometry all worked out and have been testing the prototype for a couple of days now. I have 2 sizes this is the small version. The "turbo" is pretty big, so in anything above 12kts things get a little hairy. This afternoon it is supposed to blow 25 on the outside and I'm going to see if I can break something with the famous Johnny O as co-pilot. 
My crew helping out. 
Tonight I'll have the GPS and a camera. Should be fun. |

It's definitely R&D Paul...Research &Destroy!! My Getaway is a complete pile, so I don't mind sacrificing it to the wind gods if need be. It sat up in the delta on a trailer with no rollers with a 3" ratchet strap cranked full on for 3 years, so the hulls are kind of jacked. Email me! |

What an weird idea Jeremy  adding a Spinnaker on a Getaway !!!

There was another post a while back about a guy that got his getaway all tricked out including a spi, he had all the info about how to do it and where to get all the stuff. Only one more week before I can go sailing!!

Hey Roy, That was a guy named Steve, and I'm looking to contact him if someone can hook me up. I've got an old email, but it doesn't work. This will be in complete kit form with most of the parts originating from Hobie. The geometry is all correct for the spin size, as well as the bridles and sheeting angles. Kits usually save a good chunk of dough rather than buying individual parts. Email me for more info. |

I tried Jeremy's boat today with the new spinnaker. That's a very cool addition to the boat ! Tried both with and without the jib and we think it was better with the Jib. As soon as the wind is about 8 knots , we could feel the bow being lifted by the kite ! Jeremy's kit is nicely done. It feels right, just like if it came built-in with the boat. Not intrusive and efficient. The Spinnaker we tried was Jeremy's regular size, and it felt right to me. Spi + jib + main seemed perfect. The crew has now a little more to do on the boat, which is great, although there will be a little more lines in the way if you go out with kids. I will definitely add one to my getaway at some point. Thanks Jeremy! you are the best cat dealer in the world !!! |
