Just bought a getaway. Brought it home and found that the forward lacing rod is missing. Is this something that has to be purchased through hobie because the rod is specific to the sailboat, or is it just a metal rod that I can purchase somewhere else. Wanted to get it for tomorrow, but the dealer is already closed. Just checking...Thanks!!! |

the rod is fiberglass. You might be able to pick one up somewhere, maybe home depot. maybe a plant rod, the one that help them grow up w/o falling over. A wooden dowel might also work, it should hold until you could get a correct piece your dealer forgot to instal. |

Wood under that load? I don't think so. And for the life of me, I can't figure out how you could lace the front tramp without a rod and have it look even remotely right. feed the line through the rod sleeve? It would tear out. Too weird. Has to be a used boat from an individual. Even the worst dealer would know better. Brian C |

yea I agree on the wood thing, as well as it being a used boat. Not a normal stocking item either. FYI, you can take the tramp off and still go sailing w/o any problem. |

I had this problem with the rod for my one piece 16 tramp - don't ask. I finally came up with a solution that might not be available to you warm weather sailors. Lots of places around the north use fiberglass rods to mark snow plowing boundaries. I found one at Lowes (or HD, I can't remember). It was just about perfect. |
