I live in California and just got a $45. bill from the state for property tax on my WAVE!!!

Do y'all have to pay tax in other states on your Hobie's?

In the city of Dallas, I know there's a personal property tax that applies to cars - one of the reasons I moved out of the city proper. It probably applied to boats too, but I never got a bill on my cat.

We're from the government, and here to help.

Yeah..... Right......

California has figured out that they were missing a lot of revenue from people not paying property taxes by living aboard. As a result, we have to pay propertly taxes for boats. I just chalk it off as the price of doing business. BTW, I'm planning on being a liveaboard in the next two years...

Nope, no excise tax, property tax, registration (unless you decide to put a motor on it, then you are subject to registration fees), only sales tax (5%) when purchased new.

Hey Jim!

I just spent the Fourth of July weekend up in your neck of the woods: Bridgton, near Naples.

I didn't get to go sailing but the weather was fabulous! I swam in the lake gorgeous. I wouldn't call it warm or even coolish, it was a stretch to call it "doable". Had to keep swimming or start shivering.

Pretty pretty pretty.

Nice place to live, man

Yeah, right about now local lake temps are around 70-80 degrees, depends on size of lake. May feel a little on the cool side. Bridgton/Naples area is very pretty, also busy w/ tourists this time of year. Do you know which lake?

Highland Lake.

I saw a Hobie 16, I think, moored out there, but no one sailed her all weekend.

Lots of Sunfish, though
