I could hardly believe it! 70+ degrees, great breezes, BEAUTIFUL day! Maybe standard for Florida or California, but November 2nd in Indiana... sailing in T-shirt & swim trunks... unheard of! Okay, so maybe the waves were a little cold when they splashed up through the tramp or over the bows, and maybe my feet got cold launching and returning the boat in ankle deep water; but it was well worth it! The same weather is predicted for the next 3 or 4 days, but with daylight saving time gone, it will be getting dark as I get off work. Bummer! |

cool cooly cool, boy. Yes, during the winter months out and down here, water temp is in the low fifties even though the air is in the seventies. I've always likened the spray to "Icy Bullets" I did finally invest in a wet suit. I followed other posters, here, (the wetsuit thread on open sailing) and got a "farmer john" plus a seperate jacket. Zippers on the ankles, wrists and up the front. Nice....I am a diggin' it. It changes everything. Back to carefree hull flying! Sounds like the sun's shining on you Indy! Hope it keeps shining! |

Hey guys keep in mind that the weather may be nice but a major issue with sailing this late in the season is that there arn't many other boats around for support if you needed it. Its sounds like like its something obvious but make sure you let other people know where you're going and how long your gunna be out, in case something happens. Now with that being said, Im going to get my Getaway out of storage. Hehe its blowing 18mph here in Wisconsin, 50 degrees and flat water! |
