OK, I was tightening the tramp lacing (club version). I know tight is good. Is there such a thing as too tight - obviously you dont want to rip anything, but I dont even think that is possible without a mechanical advantage. How does one gauge tightness of tramp lacing?

I just looked at a used Wave and the tramp had a 3 foot rip along the side where it is not supposed to rip because it is not sewn. ,? The tramp was very tight and the boat looked as if it had been "....rode hard and put away wet". So from my one time experience with a Wave, I think you can get the tramp too tight. Probably not easily though and it might have been from something else.

get the tramp as tight as you can. I know where that tramp ripper, our rental boats use to rip there from years of being left in the sun, its prob where the skipper sat and people also stood on it on the beach.

Keep in mind, that if you are flying a hull, the boat will put way more stress on the tramp then you can with your measly fingers!

I watched a Wave assembly video once (appeared to be a dealer) where the guys lacing it used vice grips. Those two guys put alot of tension on that thing. Apparently that is how they set up their boats.

Murray's has a tool that works really well on the H14/16. I'd assume it would work on the wave as well.
