In preparation for the new season I was going over my Wave's hardware today and noticed that each of my (new style) rudders came shipped with a spare split ring attached to the lanyard of each rudder lock pin.

A handy thing to know in an emergency. Anyone else's Wave come equipped with this bonus?

Mine had the spares on the rudders, and I think, a spare with the forestay adjuster. Having lost a few over the years, I bought an assortment box, and keep several spares around the boat. Cheap insurance!

It's really nice of Hobie to throw those in!

The extra rings are to keep the pins in the rudders for trailering or storage.

Thanks for that.

I now see the holes in the ends of the rudder pins to accommodate the spare split rings.
