Post subject:  Navigation lights

I just bought my Wave this week!!! I do like to sail at night and remembered seeing a post about Lazer Stiks. They are made by Egear. They look like chem lights but battery powered. I thought that being able to see both colored lights on both sides of the boat wouldn't be good for others to see. I discover Egear's Guardian signal lights. I think they would be perfect Nav lights for the Wave. You can use velcro straps with these. Check out http://www.batteryjunction.com/egesge.html for the best price on these. You can check out the Lazer Stiks here http://www.essentialgear.com/store/p/63 ... ed=froogle. Also those who need a around stern light check out Tektite which has two Leds or four. http://www.tek-tite.com/src/product_info.php?id=3065
PS I went and checked some Guardian lights at REI today and they are small but very bright. Still going to buy a set
of white, red, green and check them at a distance on dry land first.

Generally, navigation lights are not required for small sail-only boats, only a flashlight to shine at approaching vessels. But one technique which works well for visibilty, is to hook to the flashlight's loop on your halyard hook, so that you hoist up the flashlight on the top of the sail, shining down on the sail cloth. (May not be so good if you're wanting privacy on the boat however!)
