Seriously, you don't need a jib on the wave. Or the 14 or the 17. These boats are better with only the main. Trust me. |

Well I like the jib. It makes tacking much easier. As far as faster, I don't know. I've gone pretty fast with and without. |

Does the ropline go inside or outside the shrouds |

In some situations the jib does help the wave. In some situations the extra sail helps. I sail with another wave. That wave if we are pointing up wind he can go closer than I can. But I take him on any other run. I can come about a lot quicker using the jib. |

I would get a spinnaker instead of a jib. |

the jib mainly helps to point closer in to the wind and it helps tacking. the sail area of the jib isn't much so it doesn't add to much speed. |

Jibs are pretty much guides that get air to move more efficiently over you main. of course your boat will be much faster with a jib. you will also be able to sail closer to the wind. but imagine how much faster it would be with a spinnaker!! I would say a spinnaker kit is a much smarter choice than a jib kit. |

Contrary to several statements posted above, the Wave (or any cat for that matter) will not point as well with a jib. Unirigs will always point higher if that is your goal. The jib does help funnel wind over the mainsail in a well designed rig, adding power but not pointing ability. However, the jib supplied for the Wave does not match the mainsail at all, and is all but worthless going upwind. A Wave with the factory jib will be slower upwind. It does make tacking easier for a novice, but the Wave is so easy to tack without it, what is the point? On a reach I would think that there is a little speed to be gained. A hooter/spinnaker does up the speed game significantly, but must be furled for upwind work. |

Jack is the man. He'd know better than anyone. Spend your jib money on some EPO rudders. |

Poor Wave! It's jib gets disrespected. Everyone wants to put kites and hooters and shiny rudders on it... Tooling along after the windsurfers on it on those howling windy days is what's great. |

yes the jib doesn't add very much to the speed of the boat. causes the boat to not point very well. But it sure looks really nice and you can tell from a long distance which wave is which. (most of the other waves on our lake don't have a jib. ![]() ![]() |
