| Post subject: | Why is the wave faster than the bravo? |
I am getting ready to buy a wave and previously had a bravo. I was just curious what makes the wave faster? It seems as though the difference in size of the main sails on both are very minimal and the wave is a heavier boat. Thanks Brad |

If my amateur science memory serves me correctly, it's all about the difference in width between the two boats. Basically, you can build more pressure on the sail, which in turn will move you faster. When the Bravo starts to tip up, you will still be able to keep the Wave level. The level boat has more pressure on the sails, and more pressure (actually it would be called lift, but that's only if you can imagine the sail like an airplane wing on it's side) the faster the boat goes. I'm sure there's someone on this board who can explain it better, but it will probably boil down to that. Unless my amateur science memory is failing me. |

Sounds good to me, bt enjoy your Wave it is a great sailer! Have mine for a few months and am having a blast, was in my first race at Galveston, Texas. They kept asking me for my sail #, ended up with "blank" lol. Was the only Wave did good, first race some mistakes still fun. Had a lot of people come up to me and said "you this boat looks like where I should start", my answer yup. |

It's sail area and waterline. More sail and longer hulls on the Wave. Let alone the width which enables the sailor to use more of the sail power without healing. |
