Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to the Hobie Wave, as I just bought a used one a few months ago. I also bought some backrests (for my non-sailor friends), and they just arrived the other day.

I have never broken-down my Wave before, and I could use some help disassembling it, attaching the backrests, and then putting it back together.

If anyone is in the Baltimore area and is willing to help, I can buy lunch, cut you a check for your time, whatever. Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

You do not need to disassemble a Wave to attach the backrests. Just take off the 4 black plugs & slide in the backrests.

I thought that you had to remove the cross bars from the hulls first? Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be?

I removed my supports, there are 2 rivets in each, one at the top and one at the bottom that hold the cap in. I read on some of the post that you just pull the caps out and break the rivets. I didn't want to bugger up the inside of the tube. I just followed the directions. It took about an hour.

Thanks for the tips guys. I used the, "keep hulls intact and break the endcaps" approach, and it worked well. My question now is: should I use some type of epoxy to secure the endcap on the end of the backrest to the hull of the Wave? I know that there is a screw keeping everything in place, but the endcap seems to wiggle a bit against the hull. Thanks.
