I carry my Wave on a Trailex aluminum trailer. The mast sits in a vertical mast crutch on the front of the trailer and a mast carrier on the rear cross bar. The height of the mast crutch combined with the overhead mast weight causes an oscillation which telegraphs down to the trailer and causes to bows to sway back and forth. Increasing the weight on the trailer hitch doesn't help. I plan to shorten the mast crutch as much as vehicle clearance will allow in an attempt to reduce the sway moment of the crutch/mast combination. Has anyone experienced this 'sway' condition and come up with a solution? thanx, bill |

Tie "bridle" lines from the top of the mast crutch down to each bow tang. This should help stabilize the mast crutch. I've done this on long trips and it seems to help keep everything solid. Trailex trailers are somewhat flexible. sm |

Or take the mast apart and bungee the two pieces to the crossbars; then skip the crutch. That's the beauty of a two-piece mast! |

FYI: I've solved the problem Tried the "bridle tie" approach without much success. Cut the mast crutch shorter (for less moment sway) again very little improvement The trailer and boat are towed/stored on the beach (gulf) and breaking down 2pc mast just more effort ( trailer swayed without mast on board). Solution: had a very helpful talk w/Trailex people. They recommended moving the axle rearward 10" No more (sometimes) violent sway, no sway at low speeds and minimal (unsustained) sway at interstate speeds. |
