Post subject:  Seat Pads on hobie wave

I was just taking a spring look at my wave and noticed that the seat pads seem to blead. At the end of last season, the coloring in the blue seat pads began to run. One of the guys sailing with me was wearing white shorts, the blue pads bled into the fabric on his shorts. Is there anything I can do to keep them from bleeding....

Its actually powder I think. These are oxidizing.

Replace the pads... keep them covered? wear darker colors? White clothes will get wrecked regardless.

I scrubbed mine and the color is no longer transferring off.

Three solutions:
a) buy new pads
b) a good vinyl/plastic/rubber protectant
c) scrubbing

i started down path a), but have not yet replaced them (new pads sitting in the boat house). b) will help spread out the time between the short term solution c). right now, a regular good scrub will remove the oxidized blue dust and keep shorts clean

d) don't wear white

probably good advice regardless
