I would appreciate it greatly if someone with the stock Hobie spinnaker could post the dimensions of this sail eg. luff leach foot measurements. Thanks |

So no one can help on the dimensions? Has anyone converted the stock spinnaker to roller reefing? This was the reason for the original dimensions question to determine if possible. Anyone? |

luff: 189" leach: 154" foot:107" Roller reefing. I like the idea. I recently had a sail maker add dousing patches to my spinnaker and I am currently trying to make a end or mid pole snuffer ring and sock. I only had one yard of Pfifertex and it was not enough to pull the entire sail into the sock and my sewing skills need some work! Keep us posted if you make yours into a roller reefer.

Thanks for that. That is absolutely brilliant. I actually don't have a stock spinnaker, it was suggested to me that to make it roller furling it might need to be reshaped slightly but we couldn't find anything on the dimensions or cut of the real Hobie sail. I will take your information to my sail maker and I will let you know how it works out. Thanks again.

You will need a rigid luff wire to force the luff to rotate with the furler drum... to furl the sail. Will take a lot of drum revolutions to wind up that thin material. Not "reefable". Will not stay furled under load. All stuff we learned with the 21SC furling jennaker. |

Thanks Matt, The sail maker thought a luff wire might be required ...so that feedback is much appreciated. Yes I know it will only even be fully furled or full out so apology for using the word "reefable". By releasing halyard tension some once deployed, it should be reasonable on a deep run; but obviously tension will need to be re-established before furling. |

My sail maker thinks the stock spinnaker may work well with a top down furler system. Refer: http://www.ronstan.us/images/Furler_systems_diag3.jpg for an example. |

Cdock, looks like you are trying to mimic Rick White's hooter system but trying to use a modified spinnaker. You are better off instead of cobbling up a bunch a parts and trying to (MAYBE) save a few dollars to look at the hooter system. Hear what your saying...but the hooter price once landed were I live is a not an option. If I was in the US yes, but after paying freight and imports I can afford to have at least 5 sails made locally for less money of the hooter system! : |

Then I would contact one of the Wave forum members and see if he can provide the install directions and hardware specs so you can assemble your own at your location |
