Greetings and Merry Christmas all. I am new here and just bought a lightly used 95 Wave. dirt cheap but ready to sail. Only things missing were the main sheet (have a spare off a Hobie 16, no problem there) and the mast float. Really don't want to bother buying/finding a replacement mast float and was wondering just how important having one is. I have been sailing for around 18 years now including many afternoon sails on various resort owned Waves. Haven't flipped one yet. Even more time (months) on monohulls. |

Gary, The mast float is a safety item and should be on the boat. Even though you have not yet capsized a Wave, chances are that it will happen and at the most inopportune time. I have had my boat go turtle with a float, twice, and it was tough to right. I would imagine that it would go turtle much easier without the float and righting it would be even harder.
