I'm curious to know if I keep my wave on an incline on the shore if that would put too much stress on the forestay connection to the mast. Obviously this would not seem to be the case if boat were pointing toward the water and the mast was at the bottom of the incline. But would it be a problem if the boat was kept pointing toward land and the mast was at the top of the incline? Would the weight of the mast leaning back erode the forestay connection over time? Seems like kind of a dumb question but I'd like to know. thanks Joe |

The mast is light and its not that much force on the wires when it's sitting there; it will do no harm. It's a good idea to replace the shrouds every few years, so if your worried over time just replace them. The force the shrouds and bridal sees while sailing is far greater than a static cat on a slope. Don't worry and go sail. If you're in salt water you will have corrosion over time.... |

Good advice about replacing the shrouds every few years. The incline isn't a problem, but leaving the mast up is. The constant movement of the mast from wind and whatever damages the wire where they go into the swages. Eventually they fail. Almost always the top ones where they are harder to examine. Check when you take the mast down. Great boat isn't it? |
