Post subject: | Wave jib |
I recently purchased a 2012 Wave classic with a jib. The jib is not installed correctly (mounted to far forward). I want to correct this and i am not sure i have all the parts. Would someone mind posting some pics of their jib from various angles so I can see all the parts i should have? The hobie jib kit doesn’t really explain what all is included so trying to determine what else i need. Thanks in advance. |

Here are some pics 1. In the middle of the side for the boat this is where your cleat goes. make sure it goes here. as well only unscrews a couple of screws to place it in NOT all of them as I did and dropped a backing plate in the hull ( I wanted to do harm to my boat after trying to out it back in) 2. then there is the righting line that foes from the top mast 3. as you will then see I have 2 bungie cords that form a 45 angle the I place the red rope on top of so the lines dont get tangled in the mast. this took me a couple of sails to figure it out. If you have questions ask and yes the instructions are confusing ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the pics, that's what I really needed. On the first pic you posted, I believe there is a hook that attaches to the jib (it is currently just laying on the trampoline)? That is what I currently have, just wasn't sure if that had been bastardized by the previous owner, and the instructions don't mention or show a pic of it. I was more accustomed to the Hobie 16, that uses the jib sheet clew blocks. And yes, I agree about the jib lines getting snagged on the mast. I'll need to copy your idea with the bungee cords. Thanks again. |

yes the first pic with the red line it has the hook that is a twist style both of mine that attaches the jib are this style of attachment. But you need to be quick when tracking. do like the 16. but leave the jib cleated and just leave the main sheet alone. till the nose is thought the wind then unsheet the jib fast and pull the other side and it should not tangle. But sometime in big waves I mean 5 feet to 6 feet and high winds instill have to do a 270 instead of tacking as I can make it thought with the jib. You mentioned “it has the hook that is a twist style both of mine that attaches the jib are this style of attachment.” Do you have 2 hooks that attach to the jib? I only see one in the pics and mine only has one hook that attaches to jib. If at all possible, could you please post a pic of the back of the jib when it is all hooked up and ready to go sailing? Greatly appreciate it. |

I am not planning to add a jib to my Wave at this time, but I was thinking about adding a spreader bar. Will the spreader bar alone give a performance improvement? I have read that some believe it stiffens up the boat. It is difficult to keep the tramp super tight all the time, so I was wondering if a spreader bar alone is worth it. |
