Hello all,

I have not been here since my Pro Angler 12 days a while back. I am currently looking for a Classic Wave and need a little help. My travel is with a class A motorhome pulling a Jeep. I am currently trying to setup a roof rack on the jeep so I can find and pickup a Wave later when we all can travel and interact again. I live in Charlotte, NC and there are no dealers or Waves nearby.

I can buy a very capable roof rack for the jeep but it is just a rectangle frame on top that needs a surface to support the Wave hulls which I understand are 80 lbs each. My thoughts so far are to mount two 2x12 boards across the width of the rack that would correspond to the two seat indents on the hulls.

It would be very helpful if anyone could provide the following information:

1. What is the length from the center of one seat pad to the center of the other seat pad on the same hull?

2. If you were to take a 11.25" straightedge (width of a 2x12) and place it on the center of a seat pad in line with the direction of travel, would there be a gap or curve in the middle of the straightedge or is it basically flat on the seat surface? If it is 1/8", 1/4", etc, I can put a corresponding curve in the receiving cradle boards.

3. What is the approximate length of the lower (longest) mast section?

45 inches

Basically flat on mine. About 1/16" deflection at most.

Are you planning on keeping the Wave put together 7 feet wide on top of your Jeep? I hope not.

I've cartopped my Wave many thousands of miles but carried it taken it apart with the two hulls side by side and the beams and mast lying between them on 60" crossbars. The hulls really want to lay on their side, not on their decks. They are big boys to get up on the racks and once up there they REALLY want to be on their sides so why argue with them? Don't overthink it. Try it before you build, you'll see.

Assembly and disassembly is easy. Lacing the tramp takes some time but that's what beer is for.

Yes, they would be disassembled. So I do need the Classic, correct? My situation is that I take the RV to an ocean/bay front park and stay for 4-6 weeks with the boat remaining assembled and moved with beach wheels.

IMHO for such use case club or classic does not really matter.

For sure the hulls are happier on their sides, but take up less space vertically.

I've found that if you place a kayak-type foam block between the inverted deck and the roof rack bar, and cinch it down tight, it's solid as a rock. The deck on or near the seat pads are flat.
