I always go sailing with my android phone in a dry bag in case of emergencies. I have tried a couple of speedometers but am not happy with them. I want one that shows speed, max speed, distance traveled. I also need something that is battery friendly as I sometimes sail for several hours. Something without advertisements (and preferably free or very cheap) would also be very good. What do you suggest? |

Check out Strava... just learning it but it seems capable. Covers all kinds of transport... windsurfing as close to our waves as we can get. As for battery life, with your gps on and tracking, it always sucks battery life, regardless of the app. |

Sorry am not an Android user, but have been using the Waterspeed on my iPhone for a few years. It does have a monthly fee associated with it, but not too bad. It also supports the Apple Watch, so it is pretty easy to use when out on the water. I just need to look at my wrist to get current speed. It will also record your location, so you can capture a map of your route as well. |
