| Post subject: | New main sail |
Hi there, I am searching for a new main sail for my Wave. I purchased my catamaran in Germany in 2008. Now it needs a new sail. I can see that current stock Wave has an updated sail (Bora Bora). I would assume the Bora Bora sail stil fits to my Wave. The original 2008 sail has had 5 battens. The difference, which is visible at first glance, is the top batten of Bora Bora sail which is positioned at an angle. I wonder if the original battens can be used with the new Bora Bora sail. I would be grateful for any help. Bart |

Bora Bora just refers to the pattern of the colors. Every couple of years Hobie comes up with new color schemes for the sails and gives each one a unique name. Is your current sail manufactured by Hobie Cat Company (there should be a manufacturers patch sewn onto the sail down near the tack grommet). If your sail was made by Hobie, then the battens should fit. If it is an aftermarket sail then probably different batten lengths. sm |

Thank you srm for the reply. I am pretty sure the old sail is an original Hobie sail as it was included when buying a new catamaran. There is another thing I am worried about. I just got a quotation for Bora Bora sail with the part number 38991078. The dealer says this is standard sail without zipper. But looking at the Hobie catalog 38991078 refers to the sail with zipper. Standard sail P/N is 38991079. Do the part numbers in Hobie catalogue even apply to the European market? |
