Post subject:  Rudder alignment
I'm pretty sure that the Wave's rudders are supposed to be "toe-in" (which I think of as "pigeon-toed"), but I wonder if mine are correct:

When one is set to be in-line with the hull

The other one is turned in at a pretty dramatic angle

Is this correct? If not, what can I do about it?

Also, I seem to have a lot of fore and aft play in the rudder, even with the rudder arm bracket set at maximum tight (all the way forward)

There is a left and a right rudder - you have them reversed :)

As for the fore-aft movement, sounds like the cams aren't locking right - with the cam plate all the way forward, there shouldn't be much if any play at all.

Thanks for the reply. But, inside the rudder housing on the port hull, there's a letter "L"; inside the housing on the starboard hull, there's a letter "R."

Are you sure that's backwards?

Yep... backwards.

The L and R inside the older castings are mold makers marks and do not represent Left and Right on the boat. Sorry.

The tiller arms should bow towards the centerline of the boat.

Reversing the rudders will fix the isue you have.

If you regularly take the rudders off for trailering or storage, stencil an L and R, or P and S, or put some red and green tape on em so you don't have to spend time figuring it out every time you put the rudders back on!
