Post subject: | Rudder Failure |
I am new to Hobies and acquired a 16 (1977) about a month ago. I don't mind sail in strong winds and waves but as a precaution I have tried sailing in progressively more difficult conditions as time goes along. My white ABS rudder failed on the wind ward side the other day. Broke right off below the metal housing. I replaced it with another used one and it broke in the same spot with in the week. This was not caused by the matel rubbing on the rudder so some other kind of stress was taking place. The weather helm didn't seem to bad. Can some one fill me in about this. It is getting expensive. Thanks Dave. Kincardine Lake Huron Canada |
