Post subject: | Mast track lubrication... |
Hello all, I’ve searched, but I wanted to ask a question regarding mast track lubrication. In my search, I’m not sure there was a consensus (perhaps there isn’t one), but I’ll ask: What lubricants can be safely used in the track, without damaging the sail or the track, to assist in raising the main? Thanks in advance…Cheers. Kenny |

I would probably say... dry silicone spray. We have had teflon luff ropes for many years now, so none is actually needed. |

I use a 'dry' teflon spray, which goes on invisble, and never looks wet like an oil based lube would. I bought mine at the local Napa, but recall seeing a similar product at the marine store, especially for luff tracks and similar uses. I think the instructions also recomemend a 'dry' silicone spray. I would choose carefully and experiment on something else, on the latter, I have used silicone sprays (on other stuff, not the sail or luff) which proved a little too oily. |

Sorry Matt, we replied at the same time, I was taking my sweet time when you beat me to it. So, silicone should work better than the teflon spray? I will also give it try. Just need to find the right one. CRC had a good product, just cannot find it anymore.
