Several times when I have taken down my sail it has come off the hook on the halyard leaving it dangling half way down (or up ) the mast. I have to take down the mast to retrieve the line. Has anyone had this problem and have you discovered a fix?

Tip the boat on its side on the sand or grass- no need to take down the mast. |

Keep tension on the halyard or You can tie the end of the halyard to the eye in the hook before you raise the sail. The excess halyard will be up the mast while sailing, but you will always be able to pull the loose hook back down. Also remember to run the halyard through the cleat on the mast. |

I learned a tip from an earlier post, possibly on the Bravo forum. You can crimp the open end of the hook to close it off just enough that the sail can only be removed only at a certain angle. I tried it and never had another loose halyard. |

We have that trouble with out Waves all the time. Mike Hensel's idea is what we use, but crimping sounds smart too. |

Change out the hook for a captive shackle like found on the h-16. |

My halyard line is equipped with a threaded fastener that never undoes! I have a 2004 wave,Go to your nearest dealer to aquire the proper halyard line... |
