Does anyone know where to rent a Wave or Getaway in Barbados? I'm going on Jan 29 and would love to be able to sail down there! Thanks Mo |

May of 2007, I took a Carnival cruise to the southern caribbean. Hobie Waves were available to rent at many resorts at all of the islands we visited: St. Thomas, Barbados, Antiqua, St. Lucia, and Dominica. I had my first sail on a Hobie Wave in Antiqua and was hooked. Directly after the cruise, I marched down to the nearest Hobie dealer, here in Southern California and purchased one. I have been having a blast with her ever since. Beware of the wind, though, as there can be more than one prevaling wind direction off of these tiny islands. In Antigua the wind blew across the island, off the beach, directly out to sea, but once I was out a few hundred yardss, the wind was blowing perpendicular to the island wind which created a swirling eddie. It was a tricky return tack back to the beach and took close to an hour. Just ask the locals (i.e. taxi drivers, etc.) for the best location and remember that everything is negotiable. |

I found a place to rent a Wave in Barbados! It was at Hi Tide Water-sports in Holetown. You can park at The Folkstone Marine Park and walk north up the beach about a 1/4 mile to find them. |

How can you go wrong with 80 degree water, trade winds and lovely beaches? Almost anywhere in the Caribbean would be great for the Wave, they are by far the most popular boats down there, seen on beaches everywhere. I decided to get a Wave for use on Martha's Vineyard after first using one in Puerto Rico. |
